martha: you know, a lot of people have criticized the silence from the nra. we understand that they will speak out today. people feel, many of them, that their voices will join this chorus to call for an end to certain weapons and that would be a good thing going forward. what do you say to this? >> i expected the nra will say that this is not, to their mind, the responsibility of people that are legitimate gun owners in the country. they are always looking to advance education of people who own firearms. they will caution against any effort to jeopardize second amendment rights in this country to people to bear arms. i expect that they would express sympathy. they anticipate this is a step that is coming from the hill and the white house. martha: it does make you shake your head and say, is there a difference that can be made by this? i was shocked when you're talking points this morning. you enter it shareable experience of gun violence as an 18-year-old. how does that affect you at all this? >> well ,-com,-com ma when i was eight years old, we had an attem
